What happens when you use the contact form
The contact form on this site does not send your details to our servers. When you submit it, it opens your own email application with a message pre-filled from what you typed, addressed to charliebellbuilding@gmail.com. Nothing is stored, logged or transmitted anywhere unless and until you choose to actually send that email — at which point normal email handling applies, the same as if you'd emailed us directly.
Cookies and tracking
This site does not use cookies, analytics or any tracking technology for visitors. The only cookie this site can set is a technical sign-in cookie used exclusively by our own staff to access the site's internal settings page — it is never set for, or accessible to, ordinary visitors.
Hosting and technical logs
This site is hosted using Lovable, with a database (Supabase) used only to store the site's own configuration (colours, fonts and similar display settings) — not any information about visitors. Like virtually all websites, our hosting infrastructure may automatically record basic technical data for every visit — for example an IP address, browser type and the pages requested — purely for security, abuse prevention and keeping the site running. We do not access this data for marketing or profiling, and it is not linked to any information you separately send us.
Our lawful basis for processing
Where you choose to email us — whether directly or via this site's contact form, which opens a pre-filled email in your own email application — we process the personal data you include (such as your name, email address and message) on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to your enquiry, or to take steps towards a contract at your request if you are asking about a project. The automatic technical logging described above is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and operational.
How long we keep data
Emails you send us are kept for as long as reasonably necessary to deal with your enquiry and any resulting project, and in line with normal business and accounting record-keeping requirements. Any technical hosting logs are retained only for the short period our hosting provider needs for security purposes, and are not kept by us separately.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to ask us for access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to ask for a copy of it in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at charliebellbuilding@gmail.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
Sharing and international transfers
We don't sell or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Our website hosting and database providers may process data on infrastructure located outside the UK; where that happens, it is covered by their own standard safeguards for international transfers. We don't otherwise transfer personal data internationally.
Changes to this policy
If we start collecting visitor information in a new way — for example, a contact form that stores submissions on our servers, or website analytics — this page will be updated to explain what, why, and your rights over it, before that change goes live.
